Start from the performance requirement written into your project's specification:

  • Escape route requiring outward-opening, hinged access → Escape doors
  • Fire compartment requiring a hinged fire-rated door → Fire doors
  • Wide fire compartment opening, or an opening where a swing door isn't practical → Sliding fire doors
