Design and consultation
Alpha works with architects, quantity surveyors and consultants at specification stage, helping select the right door system for the opening and preparing specifications that meet the project's compliance requirements. This includes reviewing draft door schedules, advising on configurations for combined requirements (fire and security, or security and hygiene, for example), and confirming what documentation the project will need at sign-off. Consultation covers product selection, technical specifications, compliance requirements and project-specific solutions where a standard configuration will not meet the brief.
Shop drawings
Alpha prepares detailed technical shop drawings for each project, supporting manufacturing, installation, site coordination and client approval. The approved drawing is what the factory builds to, so what is signed off at drawing stage is what arrives on site.
Site surveys
Alpha carries out on-site measurements and assessments before manufacturing, verifying existing conditions, opening sizes, access requirements and installation requirements. Surveying the opening first is what makes a door built to order fit the building it is going into — particularly in refurbishment and retrofit work, where the opening rarely matches the drawing.
Custom manufacturing
Every Alpha door system is manufactured in-house in Gauteng, built to the specification agreed at design stage rather than adapted from stock sizes. Custom dimensions, combined performance requirements and project-specific configurations — a lead-lined door sized to a particular X-ray suite, or a security door frame built to fit an existing opening — are manufactured to order.
Testing and certification support
Alpha's fire doors are tested and certified to SANS 1253 and SANS 10400-T; its security doors to SABS 1658-1996 and BS 5051. The test reports behind those certifications are held on file rather than published online, because they contain proprietary construction detail. Alpha will review or supply certification evidence for a specified project on request — contact the team by phone or through the enquiry form with the project and product in question.
Technical support
Alpha provides technical assistance throughout the project lifecycle, covering product specifications, installation guidance, troubleshooting and compliance support — from specification stage through to queries raised once the door system is in use.
Installation guidance
Alpha provides installation guidance to the contractors fitting each door system, covering frame tolerances, seal compression and hardware setting, so the performance built into the door in the factory carries through to the finished opening on site.
Maintenance
Door systems that hold a fire or security rating depend on correct ongoing maintenance — seals, hardware and closers need periodic checking to keep performing as specified. Alpha provides maintenance support for the door systems it supplies.
Guarantee
Alpha offers a 3-year conditional guarantee on its door systems.
